Shirodhara
Shirodhara is a classical and a well-established Ayurvedic procedure of slowly and steadily dripping medicated oil or other liquids on the forehead. This procedure induces a relaxed state of awareness that results in a dynamic psycho-somatic balance.
Pinda Sweda
Pinda Sweda is one of the most important sudation therapies used in Panchakarma. During the treatment, various parts of the patient’s body are uniformly massaged with a linen bundle called kizhi dipped in a special kuzhambu, or medicated oil.
Virechana
Virechana is one of the Panchakarma therapies wherein purgation is induced by drugs and it specifically aims at the elimination of excessive Pitta Dosha from the body. Normally, after Virechanakarma, patient does not complain of having any untoward like those present after diarrhea due to dehydration.
Nasya therapy
Nasya therapy is an Ayurvedic process that can help clean the upper respiratory passage by draining out the excessive mucus. The term “Nasya” refers to the nose and the treatment involves the use of medicated oils, ghee, powders, juices of raw herbs (brahmi), honey, milk, salts, water etc.
Laxative / virechana day
- Get your dose at 6:00 a.m.
- Don’t sleep and go for a jogging or exercise
- Drink warm water
- Get rice soup at 10:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
- Lunch would be rice with gravy
- If you feel enough purgation or feel weary, drink king coconut (around 2:00 p.m.)
- Don’t use swimming pool (optional)
- Dinner would be vegetables with rice or boiled vegetables
- Don’t eat fruits during the day
Shirodhara and Nasya
- Don’t use cold drinks, fruits, and foods (King coconut, jelly, yogurt, Ice-cream)
- For better result, you can only wash your body during the shirodhara season
- If it is difficult, you can wash your head after 3:00 p.m. by using warm water
